preschool pictures

i took preschool portraits today. it's been a lot of work getting all of the paperwork together and putting together sample pictures and backgrounds and props and everything, but its over. i spent three hours this morning setting up, taking pictures, and tearing down and now i just have to upload them to smugmug, go through and pick out the best picture of each kid, or two depending on the package, match them to their package, order the pix. oh yeah, then package and deliver them when they come in. whew. i've got a long night ahead of me. oh well, it all paid off in the end. i made over $500 after i order the pictures, so i guess it was worth all the hassle. =)

because i didnt have any of the parents sign a release, i dont want to put their pix on here, but here are some of macie that i used as example pictures..

nursery

so my calling right now is a nursery worker. at first i thought it was a joke because i got it while working at a portrait studio and a daycare with kids all day long every day but sunday and then i was working with them too. and i love kids, but i was like...i need a break. lol. anyway, its loads of fun. i look forward to going to nursery on sundays and getting to spend time with these amazing kids. the only downside is that i never get to go to an actual class or talk to any adults at church hardly at all. but i'm getting used to it. i'll post some pictures of them in another post later on.

ysa scary movie night

tonight was my first ysa activity. mike and alex have been going for a while, but i've been working or otherwise engaged so i couldn't go. but i finally got to go tonight. it was a lot of fun. to get ready for halloween we had a scary movie night. we got there before everyone showed up so kenny and mike and justin played guitar for a little while. they sounded amazing. i love the guitar. after that, we had to choose a movie to watch. there were several to choose from. we picked stephen king's "it." we only watched about a half an hour of it because nobody really got into it. ben is scared of clowns and didn't want to keep watching it and everyone else thought it was lame, so we switched movies and watched signs. i'd never seen it before, but i didn't think it was scary. jaimie on the other hand would jump at everything. it was quite funny. sterling came in for a minute and made just about everyone jump because it was so unexpected and he came in yelling. noise gets to me more than anything. after signs, ben had to drive bryan home, so me and mallory and alex and jaimie went to walmart. kenny had to pick up his mom from the airport and we ran into him on our way out and kidnapped him and took him with us. we bought a clown mask and wig. justin put it on and i partially painted the bottom half of his face to match the mask. then he hid behind ben's chair just as ben got home. it was really funny. then we played mafia. i'd never played before. it was quite fun. i never got anything but a citizen card, but i'm sure we will play again and i'll be something else. although, people thought i was the mafia and killed me off. every time the narrator, whoever it was, would announce how the person died, it would always involve a clown. haha. we're so mean. i'm pretty sure ben hates us all. lol. after mafia, we watched "what lies beneath." i didn't think it was scary either, but it was a good movie. it was a really fun night.

hair painting

alex wanted to paint her hair for homecoming. so i, being an amazing sister, woke up at 5-something to do it for her before she went to seminary. it reminded me of the good ole days at the totally cool company. i sort of miss them.

alex's powderpuff game

alex is a senior this year and has decided that since she didn't do it the previous 3 years, that she now must do everything that has to do with high school. playing powderpuff is one of those things. she was so excited about it. me and mom went to her game. dad was out of town and mike was at work or they would've come too. we didn't run into as many people as i thought we would. but it was still fun. i took tons of picture and put mom in charge of the video. it was hilarious. i'll load some pix now, but the video will have to come later, its too big and takes too long to load.

girls night out

so, reo had his surgery last week and ever since, amanda hasn't been able to leave the house except for work. she's going stir crazy, so i'm kidnapped her last night and took her out. i left mike in her place so that reo wouldn't be alone. lol. we had such a good time. it's been forever since i've gotten to go out with anyone besides mike or my mom. not that that's a bad thing, but it was cool getting to hang out with someone else too. plus, amanda's awesome. we went to quiznos for dinner and i haven't been there in probably over a year so that was cool. then we decided to go to starbucks and get hot chocolate because i had a gift card. we went to barnes and noble and ran into katie and a couple of her friends and stood around in the parking lot talking to them for quite a while. then we went inside and apparently i can't use my giftcard at the starbucks inside barnes and noble because its not a real starbucks. no worries..there is one on every corner. we walked through the metropolis to the other one. it was a really nice night outside. we got our hot chocolate and decided to walk over to the fountain and watch it dance. lol. i got some pix and a cool video. then we went home and hung out with the guys for a little while.

post-art show

after the show, me and mike went to red robin for dinner. we had'nt been in forever. it was really good. i got a teriyaki chicken sandwich...it had grilled pineapple on it. holy cow, it was good! mmmm..

after dinner, we went over to amanda and reo's to check on reo. he's still in pain from his surgery. he kept like falling asleep mid-sentence. lol. it was pretty funny. :)

my art show :)

thanks to everyone who came to my art show today. it went really well and i appreciate all your love and support. for those of you who couldn't make it..here's a recap of the day: we got to the town hall around 7:45 this morning. it took them about a half an hour to tell me where my booth was. they didn't have the tables over there, so we had to find some and carry them over there through the mud. we got everything up and ready about five minutes before it started at 10. several people showed up right away. i made some good sales right off the bat. it got really hot later on in the day..mike got sunburned pretty bad. i got a little bit, but i was in and out of the tent all day, so it wasn't as bad. i had a lot of people come by and talk to me about hiring me for portraits. that was really cool. it slowed down a lot and i walked around for a minute and took pictures of the whole show. the sun was shining really bad onto one of my tables and the pictures started getting hot, so we moved the table inside. we were rearranging stuff back and forth all day as stuff was sold, or to get stuff out of the sun. later on, it cooled off a lot and the wind picked up. so i had to move stuff around even more to keep it from blowing away. then it started to rain. the jewelry booth beside me had a big stand full of jewelry that got knocked over with one little gust of wind. it was about 3:30 and raining and i figured i should start packing up after that happened. i didn't want all of my stuff ruined or having to deal with cleaning it all up like she did, so i started packing up everything that wasn't attached to a rack. most of the people who said that they would come and check out my stuff showed up then. i guess the rain brought them to me. lol. so i got back out some of the boxes of postcards and magnets and stuff for them to look at. we stayed there for quite a while in the rain. after we were only one of the only booths left open, we finished packing up and left just a couple minutes before five. all in all, it went really well. i got my name out there and also made some money in the process. it was a lot of fun too. i think it looked pretty good too...especially since i only had a month to plan it. i got a video of all of my booth. it got cut short because the lady in charge wanted to talk to me and then people kept coming in, so i added some stills of the booth and some pictures that i took at home before the show at the end of the video. i'll put some stills on here too. thanks again for all your support this past month and especially those of you who took time from your busy schedules to come see me.

hunter and macie were at the show all day helping casey with her booth for the kids. she had all sorts of art stuff out to show kids how much fun art can be. macie painted from about 8:30 to 3 non-stop except for her lunch break. she was COVERED in paint. hunter painted off and on but got bored quicker. so he walked around more and checked out the booths and stayed with me for a while. i think they both had a lot of fun though.

some more artwork

haha, she even got paint in her hair!

casey's mom, donna, is an artist too. she's an amazing painter. she painted throughout the day for everyone to watch. there was a band there playing music while she painted. this year, she was painting famous music artists and the band would play songs by that artist. i snuck away from my booth for a minute to get video of her painting elvis. she paints with her hands. its so cool.
